The first 48 hours decide how long your lashes last

Almost everything that goes wrong with lash extensions goes wrong in the first two days. Not because the work was bad — because the glue is still curing.

Why the first 48 hours matter

Lash adhesive keeps hardening after you leave the salon. Until it has fully cured, steam, heat and oil can weaken the bond. A set that would have lasted four weeks can start shedding in five days, and it will look like the technician's fault when it was really a hot shower.

What to avoid for two days

  • Steam and hot water on your face. Hot showers, sauna, standing over a boiling pot. Warm water on the body is fine — keep your face out of the steam.
  • Swimming. Both pool chlorine and sea salt attack the bond while it is still soft.
  • Oil-based cleansers, creams and makeup removers near the eyes. Oil is the single fastest way to dissolve lash glue.
  • Sleeping face-down. A pillow presses the lashes sideways and they set that way.
  • Rubbing your eyes. Nothing takes lashes out faster than your own hands.

What to do instead

  • Brush them with the small spoolie we give you, once in the morning. Ten seconds is enough.
  • Wash with an oil-free cleanser, patting rather than scrubbing around the eyes.
  • Sleep on your back or your side if you can. A silk pillowcase helps if you cannot.
  • Skip waterproof mascara entirely — removing it takes the extensions with it.

After the first two days

Life goes back to normal. Shower how you like, swim, use your usual skincare — just keep heavy oils away from the lash line and keep brushing daily. Most guests get two to four weeks out of a set, depending on their own lash growth cycle rather than anything we did.

Use your free refill

Every lash set at Yana includes one free refill if you come back within the first 7 days. Guests often wait until the set looks obviously sparse — by then it is past the free window. If a few lashes have gone by day five, come in. It costs you nothing and it doubles how long the set looks full.

If your lashes hurt, sting, or your eyelid is red or swollen, do not wait. Message us and come in. That is not something to sit out.
